Jack Lans Introduction

In short, I’m just your typical 24 year old Singaporean who has worked my way through the full national curriculum as determined by our government. Admittedly, at my age, I may not yet have many colourful life experiences to share with my readers but with the determination I have, my future is destined to be exhilarating.

Unfortunately my GCE A Level results were not high enough to earn acceptance into university in order to study for the degree of my choice. As a result, I made the decision to follow an alternative direction in life instead of wasting my time and effort obtaining a degree for a subject I have no interest in.

When I was a little younger, someone once said to me that if I cannot get what I desire at this moment in time, the future would deliver something better. While I was skeptical back then, now I am convinced of the truth in those words. After all, instead of being caught in the rat race, here I am now, doing what I love.

As is the norm in Singapore, after completing my education I entered into the military in order to complete the required two and a half years national service. During what I can only explain as being an extremely trying time, I was posted into the Special Force Unit where I underwent rigorous training to prepare me for service as a Red Beret. Of course, during those hard times, I often longed for the day I finished and left the army behind but in hindsight, I thank the SAF for the experience, for giving me the opportunity to become a better, stronger person. After successfully completing my national service, I decided to sign up to the force for an additional year in the role of instructor.

My year as an instructor together with the associated responsibilities was fantastically fulfilling, and has without any doubt, enhanced my leadership skills and decision making abilities.

After leaving the forces, with a determination I cannot begin to explain, I knew I was destined to be self employed and so began my life of independence. After a considerable amount of research and consultation, I took up a position with an independent financial company as an advisor. Of course, this decision inevitably resulted in me having to undergo extensive training together with the pursuant examinations. After successful completion of all examinations, I finally was able to embark on my voyage of independence.

In conjunction with being a financial advisor, I dedicate a vast amount of my time to online marketing. Yes, as with all things in life, if you want to succeed, you need to be willing to persevere and that is exactly what I have done. In order to get where I am today, I’ve invested in excess of twenty thousand Singapore Dollars in self education, not to mention the unimaginable amount of man-hours. Now at last I am in a position where I’m able to earn an attractive income which of course also allows me to follow my dream, a dream of establishing an Internet Marketing Consultancy Company before the end of 2008. At this point, I will be expanding aggressively into a larger niche market.

Update – December 2008
2008 has proven to be an exceptionally hard year due to the global economic crisis and like so many others, I too have been affected. In particular, one of my businesses is currently under tremendous pressure due to some equity being severely restricted which is in essence, a vital factor in any effective company management. However, I continue to believe that the financial difficulties the world is currently experiencing is yet just another necessary part of my learning curve.

Even in these uncertain times, I have taken the bold step of going ahead with my marketing company. Why? Simply because I have set myself goals and just as I started out by denying myself the luxury of doubt, so too I aim to continue. My newly formed company, “Intrillion Pte Ltd”, provides a one stop online marketing solution for fledgling businesses and SME’s. In addition, Intrillion also offers extremely competitive domain hosting services both for businesses and private use. Well, with the end of 2008 drawing near and so many personal goals still to be met, I can only say that I’m not exactly ecstatic regarding my performance but then again, I do still have a few weeks left before this year, like so many others, simply becomes part of history. •    Marketing company to be established prior to December 2008-11-13
•    Begin with personal investment plan prior to December 2009
•    Debt free – February 2009
•    Stable monthly income of $25,000 – December 2009
•    Freehold property – December 2009
•    To establish myself as a life coach and public speaker
•    Acquire my first million in assets by December 2010
•    Have my marketing company listed before 2015
•    Live my dream by acquiring my own sports hall and coaching a team to reach the top 3 internationally

Yes of course these are ambitious goals but they are also rigid goals, goals which I am willing to reach sooner but under no circumstance, later. Furthermore, I would very much like to invite you to accompany me on this journey because after all, I would rather walk beside you than lead the way.
