Key concept: Negative scripts one is writing which run or affect our lives Throughout my life, my unconscious mind tells stories to speak of its journey. It speaks in terms of symbols, archetypes and myths. This is because we are story telling creatures, telling a story with our lives. We choose the type of story we want to tell. We can tell happy or healing stories. Or we can tell death stories. The major negative ones which we might be telling are: Tragedy, Guilt, Revenge, Martyr, Soap Opera, Nightmare, Victim, Heartbreak, Maverick/Independent, Fear, and Tantrum.

Using the card: Here are some questions you could ask yourself about your life story:

* If my life were a book, what would its name be?
* If my life were a movie, what would its name be? (We are the writers, producers, directors, stars, and even all of the assistants in our stories).
* Do I have the kind of movie for my life that, if I were watching it, I’d fall asleep in it because I am so bored; where I’d get up and leave when its half-way through; or the kind I’d spend most of my time in the washroom or at the refreshment stand?

I know that a Dark Story is trapping myself in some way.

I shall do some homework later today!
* Write each of the negative catergories (Tragedy, Guilt, Revenge and so on) on separate pieces of paper.
* Fold the pieces of paper and drop them into a bowl.
* Ask my Higher Mind for help and pick a piece of paper to find which reflects the Dark Story that is most holding myself back. Each one of these Dark Stories is a core pattern, which you have chosen, and whose script I am living by. While it seems to occur on its own, I have chosen it for some purpose. Ask myself what that purpose is.

I could change your Dark Story through choice: by using the power of my mind to make a new choice about what it is that I want, and to keep making that choice. I can say to myself for every little bit of the old Dark Story which shows up, ‘I don’t want this. What I want is ____’. Whatever my Dark Story, I have a purpose for writing it.

Ask myself:

* ? What purpose do I have for writing this kind of story?
* ? What is the payoff for this story?
* ? What is it I get to hide about myself?
* ? What gift or opportunity stays hidden by this?
* ? What is it this allows me to do?
* ? What is it that I don’t have to do?

Ask my Higher Mind for help to transform my Dark Story to one which is true and authentic, to one which has to do with my truly giving myself. I could be choosing a Happy Story, a Love Story, a Healing Story, a Heroic Story, an Adventure Story or a Spiritual Odyssey.
